POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Senior Copywriter you work within an assigned group and contribute to the development of program strategies and create communication solutions that are creatively compelling, on strategy and motivate desired consumer behaviour.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Regularly attend and participate fully in briefs, product group meetings and client presentations; attend client briefs and research as needed
* Participate in the development of program strategies along with Group Creative Director and account management partners
* Collaborate fully with Art Director and Production to translate marketing strategies into innovative, viable, and benefit oriented creative concepts and formats
* Meet with the Group Creative Director, along with Art Director, to discuss concepts and creative strategy, ensuring that they deliver against the objectives
* Work with researchers or interview subjects as the project demands
* Synthesize key project information & applying the resulting knowledge in developing effective & imaginative copy concepts that support the projects objectives
* Present layouts of concepts to product group and then to client for discussion and approval; compellingly and with an authoritative manner
* Support creative concepts by providing verbal and written rationales as requested
* Write economically; including a complete, benefit oriented selling message without extraneous embellishments
* Examine copy consistently throughout a project to ensure it is cohesive, including proofing mechanics & film proofs
* Oversee the copy concept and the work of any contributing juniors throughout a project to ensure it is executed cohesively
* Estimate and adhere to personal creative time
* Championing the clients cause while balancing it with MacLaren McCanns objectives
* Contribute to building a positive agency culture, building positive working relationships with other departments and clients
* Accurately complete timesheets on a weekly basis
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be a team player
* 5 to 7 years agency experience in Copywriting
* B.A Degree in English or Diploma of Copywriting Program an asset
* Command of both literate and colloquial English
* Demonstrated ability to rationalize, judge and organize ideas
* Must have a portfolio demonstrating the creativity required to present ideas that will urge the consumer to buy the product or use the service
* Must have a strong passion for the business
