It brings together a community of close to 3,300 undergraduate and graduate students and 280 full-time and part-time faculty working in all areas of fine arts practice and scholarship.

York Fine Arts offers academic studies (history, theory, criticism) and professional training (studio, production, performance) in six disciplines: dance, design, film, music, theatre and visual arts, plus interdisciplinary cultural studies in the fine arts.

York Fine Arts programs emphasize contemporary artistic production and processes, including the integration of the new technologies, alongside traditional modes of artistic theory and practice. Purpose:

The Production Manager reports to the Executive Officer on administrative matters and to the Chair of the Department of Theatre on operational matters.

Education:

* University degree with specialization in theatre, or equivalent experience in a professional theatre environment.

Experience:

* 7 years related experience in professional theatre production, including demonstrated management experience. Familiarity with the disciplines of Theatre, Dance, and Music.

Skills:

* Demonstrated strong management skills including the ability to organize, direct and communicate with diverse groups of people;
* Ability to communicate complex technical and production skills effectively;
* Proven ability to plan and administer a budget;
* In-depth knowledge of all aspects of performance production including production management, stage management, technical direction, including stage carpentry, properties, scenic painting, rigging, lighting, sound, automation, special effects, costume and scenery construction, publicity, box office and house and stage management;
* Effective personnel management skills;
* Effective presentation skills; demonstrated effective and clear written communication skills;
* Superior consultation skills, as well as the ability to mediate conflict and achieve consensus;
* Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and priorities;
* Ability to find creative solutions to complex situations;
* Excellent planning/organizing skills; ability to balance multiple priorities;
* Excellent computing skills, including word processing and spreadsheet skills.

Requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of similar institutions, rental agencies, and other performing arts organizations.

Requires current knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety regulations; requires knowledge of legislation governing the use of prop or replica firearms and the use of pyrotechnic effects.

Requires knowledge of external adian Institute for Theatre Technology (CITT), United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians (OISTAT).
